There is a lot of information and tips you can follow to show you how you can become an event planner. However, you need to know, that to become a very successful event planner you will need to possess time management skills as well as having the ability to pay attention to detail in order to provide the best service to your clients. This can be very time consuming and requires you to put in a large amount of energy and creativity along with being thorough and meticulous in your organisation.

The first tip and the most important one is that you need to get in contact with some of the best suppliers. You need to have a business contract and connection with many suppliers so that you can offer the best to your clients. Remember when you have the best suppliers, your reputation will be excellent.

Also, always give your clients options. Have a least a dozen vendors that you work with on a regular basis so that your clients can choose from a few options. When you give your clients options they will feel more involved in the planning process.

You need to think about what kind of events that you will plan. They can be small dinners to huge weddings so you need to come up with creative ways to bring life to a party. There are going to be a lot of signatures styles, but if you continuously research then you can keep up on trends and event activities.

When you are doing a wedding that is multicultural, you need to learn about both of the cultures that they want present in the wedding. This will give you a better understanding of the traditions that they want to honour.

You also need to think about your location of business. Is your office somewhere respectable? You need to make sure that your clients are going to feel comfortable in your office. This way you will have more clientele.

As an event planner you need to learn how to communicate effectively. You need to know what is acceptable and what is not by reviewing all your details with the clients. The party isn’t about you, but the clients. You need to keep that in mind. Listen to your clients needs and wants.

Another way for you to enhance your reputation is to keep ties with the clients who were very pleased with your performance. Use them as references, but always ask before giving out any information. This way you can give future clients and idea of your quality.

You may also want to ask your clients if you can take general pictures of the event so that future clients will be able to see what exactly you are capable of doing. This is will make a lot of people hire you on the spot.

Talk to the client and set a budget before contacting any of your suppliers. This way you can communicate effectively with your suppliers and clients. You can offer the best possible solutions and ideas within a budget. If you can pull off an extraordinary event within a budget, then you will be recommended to everyone. There are only two things that matter and that is the design and cost of an event.

Finally, you need to have a personality that allows you to interact with others and really hear what others want. You need to have the strength to handle everything with a collective attitude, as well as, make the planning process fun for your clients. Your personality and the way you handle things makes a huge difference in being a successful event coordinator or an okay planner.

Blogging is one of the best ways to start a Wahm business because it is so easy to get going. However, that does not mean that it is easy to make money from your blog. Don’t start a blog and expect to see money rolling in immediately. Blogging is an activity that will take time to build up to a profit level. It’s a good thing to start while you are working on other Wahm opportunities to let it build to a profitability level. With time and attention, your blog (or blogs) will grow into a business.

When you are blogging for profit, you’ll want to pay close attention to how you present yourself in your blog. There are literally hundreds of thousands of blogs out there, and there may be several hundred blogs that are related to your topic. If your readers can’t understand your blog and have trouble reading it, they’ll just move on to the next one. The following tips can make your blog more user-friendly and help you gain consistent readers.

First, pay close attention to the format of your blog. Readers want to understand how your blog works right from the start. Most blogging platforms have similar formats, with links and tags on the left or right margin, and the most recent post on top. Make sure to use the links wisely. Only put links up for blogs or content that is truly related to your blog’s topic. The point is to give your readers additional information on your topic. Keep the list short and sweet. There is no reason to overwhelm them with links to other sites.

Also, take careful consideration when choosing your blog’s background and font color. Although there are a lot of color choices that blogging programs offer, its best to stick with a light background and dark text. Studies have shown that the human brain can process this type of format better than light text on a dark background. Think about this before you commit to a black background and white text. It might look striking, but readers might not want to stay there for long. Also, use a solid background color instead of trying to use a pattern or design.

Proofread your entries before you post them to your blog. There is nothing that reduces your authority in the eyes of your readers’ more than bad spelling and grammar. The online world is a world of text, so take some time to learn commonly misspelled words and grammatical errors.

Keep your blog fresh and interesting by posting at least once per day. With so much information available on the Internet, your readers may go elsewhere if you aren’t supplying daily content. If you aren’t sure what to write about, try posting a poll, a link to another blog, comment on a news story or post of list of helpful tips. Not every post has to be long and complicated, but you do need to post something everyday.

These tips will help keep your blog readable and interesting to your visitors. The more visitors you get, the more your blog will grow in profitability and importance. Just make sure to present yourself in a professional way and keep your readers coming back for more new content each day. In no time, you’ll have a profitable blog and then you can move on to create two or three.

Opening your own store as a Wahm is easy when you take your business online. Online shopping is an easy and convenient way to shop, with more and more people becoming comfortable making purchases from online stores. If you have something that you are passionate about selling, then you may want to consider opening an online store.

Before you start, do some research online and check out your potential competition. If you have a business idea in mind, it is worth the time and effort to see what else is being sold in your category of products. If you have no idea what you want to sell, you’ll also want to head online to search out what would be most profitable to sell.

When you make the selection of what you are going to sell, remember to think “niche.” A niche is a small category of products that meet the needs of a specific group of people. Your online store shouldn’t have a “K-mart” or “Big W” approach where there is a little bit of everything for everyone. Online commerce is all about small categories of interest. There are so many things to choose from, you have more success when you cater to a small and specific group of people.

The best place to start with finding a niche is thinking about your own interests. When you sell to a niche that you know well, you are more likely to know what products will be of interest to those people. You can sell to your clientele based on your own experience.

Many Wahms start an online store because they have homemade products to offer. One example is handmade baby clothes and cloth napppies. Many Wahms have found success with putting their sewing skills to work and selling their products online. Other popular handmade online stores include bath and body products, candles and gift baskets, greeting cards and stationery.

This does not mean that you can’t have online store success if you don’t make your own products. There are hundreds of Wahms who have success by opening stores stocked with store-bought inventory.

Whatever your choice, whether handmade or store bought, there are many options for hosting your online store. These options depend on how comfortable you are with web design. Many companies, like Yahoo, offer store websites that are very user friendly and simple to set up. They can cost anywhere from $30 to $200 per month for the storefront services. There are also DIY commerce solutions such as Congo Cart, with monthly pricing starting from as low as $5. This includes your hosting and use of their templates, or you can easily design your own with their templating system. Wahms also find success with eBay stores, which allow them to sell in auctions or in a fixed price format.

Look at all of your options before you choose your online store hosting. Remember that the quality of your hosting will reflect the quality of your business. The last thing you need is your entire website going down due to cheap hosting. The best choice is to find a reputable host that will provide you with a storefront and hosting for a reasonable price. Don’t try to pinch pennies on this aspect of your business. You could end up out of business in no time.

Once you’ve found a place to host your store, you’ll need to drive internet traffic to the store. One of the easiest ways is to trade banners with other Wahm online stores. Many Wahms support each other in their online efforts. This form of networking is a great way to introduce your products to customers who already look to support Wahms. You can also advertise using PPC (pay per click) advertising and work on your website so that it increases in page ranking for certain search terms.

Keep your customers coming back with an easy to navigate website, simple ordering techniques and good customer service. Even though most of your business will be done online, it’s a good idea to get a business phone line and put that number on your website. This way, customers can feel confident in purchasing from you because they know they can speak to a real person if there is a problem with their order.

Regardless of what type of online Wahm store you choose to open, following these tips will make your business a success.

There are hundreds of Direct Sales companies that offer Wahms the ability to make money and stay home with their children at the same time. When you work in Direct Sales you are an independent contractor for a company. You are in charge of selling their products or services, which you then get at a discount. Your income comes from the difference between the price you charge your customers and the price you pay for the items. You can also normally earn money from commissions off of the sales of your recruits.

Going with a Direct Sales company is a great way to start a work at home business. Direct Sales companies offer stay at home mums an affordable way to start up their own business. There are very little costs involved. Normally a starter kit can be purchased for $100 to $200. Compare that with opening a regular store that will cost thousands. Some companies even offer the opportunity to earn a starter kit for free.

Working a Direct Sales business also means that you have flexibility in your work schedule and your income. You make all of the decisions on when you hold parties or demonstrations. Your income is directly proportionate to the efforts that you put into your business. The more demonstrations you book and the more new clients you meet, the more you will make. You’ll also receive support and encouragement from fellow consultants. Weekly sales meetings help keep you motivated and give you fresh ideas for your business. You will network with other consultants for support and praise. Your up line or recruiter will also provide you with lots of help as you get your business started.

To be successful in Direct Sales, you’ll need to have great people skills. The products are really second to your personality. Your presence and your customer service will be what sell your items. You’ll also need to be very organised. As an independent sales rep, you’ll be in charge of tracking your sales and paying the appropriate taxes. You’ll need to schedule your parties, shows or demonstrations and follow up with your customers in a timely manner.

Once you’ve decided that Direct Sales is right for you, its time to choose while Direct Sales company you want to work with. It’s recommended that you choose a company that offers product that you already like or have experience with. The best salespeople are those who are enthusiastic about their products. Trying to sell something that you don’t use yourself or that you aren’t that interested in will make you appear insincere to your customers.

Think about your Direct Sales company choice in the long term. This will be your business that you put your name on, and you will invest your time and money in. Research your options thoroughly and make sure that you sign up with a trusted company. Don’t feel pressured by a sponsor to sign right away. This is your decision and it is up to you whether or not you want to join.

Also, make sure to ask a lot of questions. Know everything that you can about the company before you sign up. Understand the commission structure, how products are sold and if there are any monthly minimums. Make sure you understand how much your starter pack will cost and what the kit includes. Will there be anything else you need to buy immediately? Will you need to buy inventory? Understand how ordering works and how the products get to the customers.

If you are really serious about an opportunity, jump online and see what other consultants have to say about the company. Find out what customers are saying about the company. If there is more bad than good being said about a company and its consultants, then that’s a huge red flag.

Getting organised is the key to making your life as a work at home mum efficient and, relatively, stress free. If you can get and stay organised, your business and your home life will flourish. Without taking some simple organisational steps you’ll be swamped with work and overwhelmed with laundry in no time.

One of the most important parts of getting organised as a Wahm is to establish business hours. Setting up specific working times during each day has many benefits. First, you’ll be more consistent with your work. Once you’ve gotten used to starting and stopping at a specific time each day you’ll work more efficiently. You’ll manage your work time better and reduce distractions like checking your e-mail or watching television. You’ll also be less likely to pick up things to do here and there, like laundry or taking time to errands. If you have set working hours, you’ll schedule those tasks around your work time so you’ll be more focused during your work time. It will help your family and friends understand that you are working while you are at home, and you won’t be available during those hours.

Next, you need to start delegating tasks to other family members. It may seem easier to do everything yourself, but once you have work duties on top of household duties you’ll realise how few hours in the day there actually are. There is nothing wrong with asking your children to fold the laundry, or having your husband cook dinner a few nights a week. By sharing the household duties as a family, you’ll have more time to get your work done and feel more rested. The important thing to remember when you delegate is that things won’t be done the way that you would do them. However, they are getting done.

Planning your work and family activities will make the whole house run smoother. If you don’t have a daily planner, then you need to get one. It doesn’t matter if it is a paper planner or a computer application. When you use a planner to write down everything that needs to be done, and then plan each activity for a specific time then you’ll have the opportunity to manage your time more wisely in and out of your home office.

Organising your home at large will help make your business more organised. While it may take a while to establish some organisational habits in your house, your efforts will be well worth it. Don’t try to get organised in a weekend or even several days. Work up to a level of organisation. Start small with your desk space. Organise the things in your desk and top of your desk. Make sure that everything that you need has a place, and toss or donate things that you don’t need. Then move on to another portion of the house. When something is out of place, it’s easy to put it back in its home once you’ve taken the time to organise your storage spaces around the house. If need be, take a trip to an office supply store or home improvement store and buy items like bins, cabinets and shelves that will help you stay more organised.

Getting organised as a Wahm does take some time and effort. Realise that with time your organisational system will get better. Work with your family to make your home run efficiently, and then you’ll be able to concentrate on your work when you need to.

Yes, you made the decision to work from home so you could spend more time with your kids and raise them yourself instead of letting the daycare do it. And while you love being at home with your sweet young things and you cherish every milestone you get to be a part of, the reality is you also need to make a living.

I’m not going to lie to you; it’s hard to work at home when you have kids at home. They want your attention, they don’t understand that it’s not always all about them, and to compound it, they have short attention spans.

Here are a few suggestions you can try when you absolutely need to get some work done.

Wherever you are doing your work tasks, make sure there is enough room for your children to join you. Maybe this means you should bring your laptop to the kitchen table so they can be at the table too.

Have activities available that they can do on their own:

puzzles

crayons and coloring book

Play-Doh

follow along books on tape

building blocks

A good idea is to save some toys that are “special” and are only available to play with while you work. Don’t bring out the same ones each time. Have a special stash to rotate so that they’re always fresh and exciting toys.

Give them assignments:

It depends on what your child is interested in, but think ahead to come up with some important tasks for them to do. They appreciate feeling needed and helpful.

write and color a story for daddy

draw a picture of everyone in our family

make a phone book with your friend’s and family’s phone numbers

build a town with Legos

arrange all your playing cards by numbers, type, color, etc

organise the Tupperware

cut out any pictures of shoes from these magazines and paste them in a notebook

write out ideas of things to do when you’re bored and create a bored jar to put them in

do some worksheets (they think of this as their “work”)

Arrange play dates:

Organise with a friend/s on a regular basis. Perhaps on Mondays all the kids are at your house for two hours and on Thursdays they’re at your friend’s house. The kids enjoy playing with each other and get to work on their social skills, and you get some work done.

Invite a mother’s helper to come and play with your kids:

If you have a trustworthy pre teen in the neighbourhood who is not quite babysitting age, you can ask them to come over for an afternoon once a week to play with your kids. You’re still in the house if something goes wrong, but they get to practice babysitting and earning a little money.

Nap time:

It goes without saying that you can get a lot done when and if the kids nap. Sometimes you get stressed because you know you only have an hour and so much to do. Try not to do household tasks during this time. Sorting laundry and folding clothes is a project for you and your kids to do together. So do it with them, not during your golden hour of work productivity. Also, before nap time starts figure out what you’re going to do and write out a “to do” list. This helps you keep on track and maximize your short window of time.

Ever heard of mystery shopping? Sounds exciting and mysterious doesn’t it?

It’s a method that some people use to make money in their spare time, but many people mistake it for a scam. In some cases, it is, but there are lots of perfectly viable opportunities out there that are legitimate. Let’s take a look at what mystery shoppers do, and how to find shopping opportunities that are on the up and up.

Mystery shoppers are customers hired by a company to shop undercover, sometimes in competitors’ stores, sometimes in their own franchises. They shop everywhere, pose as customers, and gather information about all sorts of areas, from cleanliness to quality of service. Mystery shoppers buy merchandise, make returns, ask questions and act just like regular shoppers, while making a lot of observations. After the shopping trip is over, the mystery shopper completes a report.

This is not a way to get paid for what you think about the experience; it’s more like a form of journalism, and your report form will contain mostly yes or no questions. Most mystery shoppers are actually hired by businesses to tell them about the experiences of customers in their own stores – things that a supervisor might not see. After all, we’re all on our best behavior in front of the boss. The information gathered by mystery shoppers can even be used to reward good employees.

There are all kinds of businesses that might use mystery shoppers, from banks to hotels, restaurants to spas. There are even government agencies that send out people who do a similar job to that of mystery shoppers, to find out how citizens are treated. Plenty of opportunities are available, and if you want to get involved, you’ll need to find a mystery shopping company. About two and a half million people are working in this position at the moment.

Of course, like any job opportunity, this kind of position has brought out some scammers, too. Look for companies that belong to the Mystery Shopping Providers Association, which have to agree to certain ethical standards and be formally approved. Never pay any company to apply, or to get a “kit” of information that’ll supposedly help you get the job. Legitimate jobs are available for free.

If you see promises of high pay rates, it’s probably also a scam. Most mystery shoppers get paid around ten dollars per assignment, though complex assignments can be in the hundred dollar range. While you’re not likely to get rich doing this job, it is a way to make a little extra money, and have a lot of fun shopping.

Why Not Start A Scrapbook Business?

Do you have a passion for scrapbooking or papercrafts?

Have you been thinking of ways to supplement your income?

Why not turn it into a scrapbooking business?

It could be a great way to turn your hobby into a profitable work at home business!

Of course, to really be a success with your scrapbooking business, you’re going to need to have a plan and know what you’re doing.

So let’s have a look at the steps you need to take to put this business into action.

First, you’re going to need to decide whether or not you want your hobby to be a business. It might not be immediately obvious why it would be a bad idea. However, when our hobbies turn into another kind of work, it can be hard to find ways to relax. Make sure that you’re ready to add in another job, and that scrapbooking will still be your passion after money gets involved.

Next, think about whether there’s a demand for your services. Do people comment on the quality of your memory pages and scrapbooks? Do they ask you what they should do with their own, or where to get the best supplies? If you’ve experienced this time after time, a home based business might be appropriate. It’s no fun to leave your photos sitting in a drawer, and people are realising that. You can help them make their dreams of a beautiful scrapbook come true.

Put together a portfolio of your best work, compiling the pages you’re proudest of. That way your prospective clients will have something to look at that’ll tell them what kind of quality you have to offer. Make sure you include only professional quality work. Don’t fill out a scrapbook portfolio with pieces that aren’t up to snuff. It won’t look good, even if they make the portfolio look a little thicker.

Start spreading the news! Now you’re ready to start looking for clients. You’ll need to let others know you have this business. Start by telling your family and friends, and encourage them to tell other people they know. Write an online press release, or have one written by a professional who knows the format. You can also submit this press release to local papers and in other areas in the community. Just a flyer at church, the grocery store, or in the craft store can do a lot too. After you develop a good client list, think about offering discounts for referrals.

The business can expand if you’re willing to not just offer scrapbooking services, but to teach others how to put together scrapbooks too. Set up a class and teach people in your community how to present their memories in an attractive way.

A scrapbooking business can be a lot of fun and you may make some extra money. Just remember to charge fairly for your time and materials so you don’t undercut yourself. If you approach things the right way, your scrapbooking business could really take off.
